Just Another Average Day at the Shore?

This past Saturday afternoon, Asbury Park, NJ, which is close to where I live, hosted a Zombie Walk on the boardwalk in an attempt to win back the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of zombies. (That record stood at just over 8,000.)

My neighbor told me about this on Friday, so I decided to go and see how it was going to turn out. After all, what could be more fun than zombies at the beach? That record stood at just over 8,000. I’d liked to have participated, but we already had dinner plans, and somehow I think if we’d shown up covered in fake blood and/or gore, and with whitened faces, they just might have turned us away.

It was quite a hoot, as various photos show. These below are some of the oddball things that caught my fancy, and show some of the fun being had by all and sundry. Best of all, the official count came in at 9592 zombies! New World’s Record!

Tiring work, lurching around all day. Time for a nap.

Yep, it's hungry work being a zombie. Gotta get a hoagie--better than intestines, I guess.

Just your average line-up of boardwalk zombies grabbing a bite to eat. Hoagies taste better than brains, I guess.

This guy actually dripped "blood" from his mouth as he gnawed on the arm he carried. Creepy-cool!
